On Friday, together with our sister and brother Scouts and Explorers from 1st Madrid, Scouts and Beavers from 1st Majadahonda visited the British Consulate in Madrid to sign the book of condolences honouring the passing of our Patron Her Majesty The Queen.
The Consulate is in one of the (now!) "Cinco Torres" of Madrid, the Torre Emperador Castellana, and thanks to the efforts of the 1st Madrid GSL Catherine and the kindness of His Majesty's Deputy Ambassador to Spain Sarah Cowley, we were all invited to the 41st floor with amazing views of Madrid for the ceremony.
We were able to add some flowers to those already presented by sympathisers.
Each of our Scouts and Leaders were able to sign a message in the condolences book, with some lovely thoughts and words remembering our Patron The Queen and what she meant to British Scouts.
Together with the Scouts from 1st Madrid, we then listened to Inspector Tom Thornton and Regional Security Manager Dean Goodhall talk to us about their jobs and work with the Queen in the past, both had some very interesting stories!
Then we were able to hear from the Deputy Ambassador to Spain Sarah Cowley tell her stories of meeting the Queen, which we all enjoyed very much!
Finally it was time to leave and we will remember our memories of signing the book, and the stories of people who met our late Patron, The Queen.
