After a competitive recruitment process, I'm delighted to share the news that Matt Lightfoot has been appointed to the role of BSO Transformation Lead. As we move forward with The Scouts Vision 2025, improving our volunteer structure, how we welcome volunteers and learning, Matt will be leading this change within BSO.
“I started in Scouting as a Cub Scout at 4th Worsley in Manchester and I’ve moved through all of the sections to being an explorer scout and earning my Queen’s Scout Award in 2010! As an adult volunteer, I’ve held a variety of roles including Explorer Scout Leader, Contingent Manager and Cub Scout Leader across the UK and Europe. I helped Simon Burgess to establish 1st Prague and it’s great to see the group continue to grow and move from strength to strength. Currently alongside my role as BSO Transformation Lead, I also volunteer with the with the World Organisation of Scouting, helping them implement robust project management practices for the initiatives that’re the focus of the next triennium.
In my spare time from Scouting, I manage the project management team for a multi-million-euro video game developer that has offices in Germany, Ukraine and the United States, working on a revolutionary Web3 project, guided by Hollywood Director Neill Bloomkamp (District 9, Chappie and Elysium) and working with industry leading partners such as Microsoft and Sony. I’m also an avid mountaineer and ski tourer, exploring the alps, one peak at a time!”
