As an organisation that shares a common goal of providing a connection to "home" for The Scouts international communities around the world, we are deeply saddened to hear that British Girlguiding Overseas (BGO) will be closing on September 1st. 6TH EASTCOTE SCOUT GROUP (BSO), has had the privilege of working alongside BGO for many years, offering UK Scouting and Guiding to British communities globally for over a century. We empathise not only with a kindred organisation but also with the adult volunteers and young people, as many of them are also involved with us in BSO.
Although we have a shared history and operate similarly to BGO, we are two distinct organisations that offer a different experience to our young people. The Scouts are fully co-educational, supporting young people to gain skills for life.
We understand that this announcement of BGO's closure will undoubtedly impact many people, and some may look towards BSO as a potential source of support for their local communities. We encourage a desire to make a positive impact in the community in The Scouts, and those who wish to learn more About US and join us, can visit our website, or reach out to us on our social media channels. We welcome all new enquiries to join subject to Scouts’ joining process and membership requirements policies and procedures being adhered to.
